People come up to members of the WV team all the time and ask what they can do to become better writers! We've collaborated with one another and come up with a few ways to help you become a better writer in less than just 10 minutes a day. Let's begin!
It sounds redundant, but reading more really can help improve your writing skills! Finding a good book to cozy up with is not only therapeutic, but it will without a doubt expand your vocabulary as well as get your creative juices flowing.
Studying The Masters
If time isn't on your side, make it easy on yourself and grab a magazine! Read a few articles, and pay close attention to the format of the articles you read as well as their titles, subtitles and key words that each journalist uses. You'd be surprised what you could learn or the inspiration you could gain from the contents of a juicy Cosmopolitan.
Start A Journal
If your having an issue committing to writing everyday, start small. Find yourself a cheap notebook and make a vow to write in it at least once a day. Be sure to limit yourself to only ten minutes a day so it's not overwhelming, and before you know it, one day you'll be so lost in your journal that you won't even check the time. Writing in your journal less than ten minutes a day for at least 60-90 days will greatly increase your first person writing skills, and most importantly, give you a head start on an awesome tradition of keeping a journal to remember the days gone by.
Start A Story
Journaling not your thing? Are you the more ambitious type? Well, if you feel up to it, even if you've never done it before, we encourage you to jump right into try starting a story. Dedicate a few minutes a day to one solid story, or write multiples. Writing stories was always fun in grade school, but in the real world, they are even more fun to write when you know that you can turn your words into profit. It doesn't matter if you plan to write a novel, or if your just writing for fun, use your ten minutes a day as an exercise to sparkr your imagination. Don't let the pen intimidate you! Just

Truly, we all learn differently but overall the point that we're trying to get across here is that writing is like basketball. Michael Jordan didn't just wake up one day and begin slam dunking! Just like Dean Koontz first book wasn't a number one best seller! To become great at anything it takes the three P's. Patience, Persistence and Presence. If writing is a passion of yours or you simply know that it isn't your strong point and you seriously want to improve it, try some of these solid technique to increase your jotting skills.
