Back in 2013 when I was just a fresh, young writer, I ran a international blog that fostered a women support group that I created by the name of WTLGL (Women Talk... Little Girls Listen Network). I knew at a very young age that I wanted to help people, especially women and built a platform for women of all ages to come and ask questions, express themselves. I quickly gained a following of thousands of followers from around the world. It was because of this group that I gained the confidence to write my next novel and continue my writing career. It was also within that group that I found a need to reach out to the community and help those around me.
So, I had the bright idea of starting the PB&J Drive in my city. I was able to gain the sponsorship from WSU TRIO program, The Inn At Tallgrass Leasing office, J. Michaels Hair Salon and Lola's Boutique who allowed me to place boxes at their locations to educate and encourage people in the community about the food drive and it's cause!
The turn out was GREAT! The PB&J food drive ran for 1 week and was a HIT! We had peanut butter coming out of our ears AND successfully collected over 218 pounds of peanut butter that I got the honor of hand delivering to the Kansas Food Bank. The impact that it had on the community was amazing and opened my eyes to how powerful it can be when everyone comes together for a cause!
